Over the Hill birthday party games are designed to make fun of the aging process and all of the maladies that come with it. They should be designed to create laughter and a fun mockery of our failing bodies, minds, etc. as we age. Here are a few great ideas for Over the Hill birthday party games:
The Older Than game.
For this game, you want all of the guests to sit in a basic circle, and you are going to take turns, in order coming up with creative things that the birthday boy or girl is older than. You keep going until someone can’t think of something, then they are out. Play until there is only one player left. At first you will hear things like cell phones, personal computers, Xbox, the wii, etc. but after a while you will find them referring to things that seem to have been around forever, like televisions, microwaves, etc. It is a fun game, and good for a lot of laughs.
Walker and Wheelchair races.
Usually when people get older they need assistance in walking, whether from a cane, walker, or a wheelchair. So, you are going to play on this malady by having relay, or just everyone races using walkers or wheelchairs. If you use walkers, use some scraps of fabric to tie the participants legs to the walkers. This will help make sure they do not cheat by just picking up the walker and running. It will be funny, and give everyone a taste of how it feels to be old.
Not as young as you used to be.
For this game, you are going to take games that were easy as kids, and drive home the point that you just aren’t young any more. Games like Twister, that were easy and fun as a kid are much harder with bad backs, hips, knees, and ankles. You can also use any games that require dexterity, such as Operation. As you age, you lose some of the your nimbleness, and it can be fun to watch these adults play games that were once simple, and that they now struggle with.
Your New Diet.
Many elderly suffer from stomach maladies that require them to eat bland, or pureed foods. This is a game where you have bottles of pureed foods, and each guest has to taste them, and try and decipher what this food is. The person with the most correct wins. It will be a fun game to show them what they have to look forward to.
These are just a few fun Over the Hill games. If you want something that is not so make-fun-of the elderly, you can just play games that are traditionally reserved for aging people like Shuffleboard, Bunco, etc. These are still fun party games, and will have your guests laughing!
