13th Birthday Party Ideas for Boys

Birthday idea for 13 year old boyA 13th birthday party is a big deal. This is the big birthday where a young 12 year old crosses the threshold and enters into their teen years. Though some kids are ready to have a boy and girl party at this age, some boys prefer just to stick with the guys. This article offers some great ideas for 13th birthday parties for boys.

Video games

Having a 13th birthday video game party can be a huge hit because honestly, what 13 year-old boy doesn’t love video games? The preparations for a video game party are pretty simple. The parent of the birthday boy can rent some new video games and some of the teen’s all-time favorites and supply lots of pizza and soda. With the games and the food most 13 year old boys will be in heaven.

Laser tag

Another great idea for a 13th birthday party is laser tag. This can be an especially good idea if the 13 year old has a lot of friends that they want to invite to the party. They can divide up into teams and have at it for an hour or two. Some laser tag places offer places to sit and eat after the boys are done playing. If the place doesn’t offer anywhere to sit and eat, the parent can take the boys out to eat or take them back to their house for pizza, snacks and soda.

To the movies

If a fun movie is coming out in time for the 13 year old’s birthday, this can be a great idea for their party. The boys can get snacks and watch the movie. After the movie they can get together for dinner and/or ice cream and cake. Since they are turning 13, some boys might prefer not to have cake and ice cream. If this is the case, the parent could just take the boys out for ice cream, or just serve them dinner after the movie.

Sleepover

Boys like sleepovers just about as much as girls like sleepovers. Sleepovers give the boys an opportunity to stay up late with their friends and play video games, watch TV or watch movies. A sleepover can be a great idea for a 13th birthday party. Parents should remember to supply a lot of food for the teenage boys and make sure they have the pillows and blankets that they need to be comfortable.

Bowling

Going bowling is a great idea for a 13th birthday party. Boys have a lot of fun hanging out with their friends and bowling probably isn’t an activity that they get to do very often. Usually bowling alleys will allow the boys to eat before, after and possibly during the time they are bowling. The boys can have pizza, chips, soda, ice cream and cake while they are trying to get a strike.

Camp out

If the 13 year old birthday boy is into camping, a camp out might be a great idea for his 13th birthday party. A camp out is different from a regular sleepover because everything is done outside. The boys can set up a tent (or two) in the backyard, they can build their own fire and they can cook their own food (with some help) over a fire pit. They can roast marshmallows, make s’mores and tell scary stories all night long.

These are just a few ideas for a great themed birthday party for a boy entering his teen years. Brainstorm with your child to determine their thoughts and ideas, the number of people he’d like to invite as this might help to include or exclude some ideas and what you and your child envision as the ‘perfect 13th birthday party’ and most importantly, have a great time!
