A baby’s first birthday is usually a big occasion, where you go all out on decorations and the guest list. This is a moment you don’t want to forget, and it is a party that is more about hype than activity, since how much can a one year old really do? So, with this said, it is important to have great decorations, especially your table centerpieces. The following are some fun centerpiece ideas:
First year moment pictures.
Because the first birthday is all about baby, why not have the centerpieces be the same? You can go through your picture albums, digital or print, and choose your favorite pictures. Just be sure to get a nice array from the first month through to the twelfth. Kids change so much in looks during the first year, and so displaying these pictures as your centerpieces is a great idea. People will love looking at them, and you will have fun preparing them. You could pair them with a couple blown up balloons, and confetti and you will have a festive, and interesting centerpiece.
Balloons.
At one year old, kids love bright colors, and new things. Most one year olds will be fascinated with a balloon, especially one full of helium, or the like. If you want a simple centerpiece for your tables, get helium mylar balloons that read “First Birthday” or have the number one on them, and surround them with plain helium filled balloons and confetti. Then at the end of the party, let each child guest take a balloon home with them.
Mementos
Your baby’s first outfit, the blanket they came home from the hospital in, the first pair of shoes, their rattle, mobile, etc. all can be used to create perfect centerpieces for the first birthday. It is like a glimpse into their life thus far, and will cost you nothing. It is fun to put together, and will inspire happy memories for you. People will love remembering how tiny the baby was, and will look at those first clothes and marvel that anything was ever small enough to wear that. It will be a blast to create and a fun centerpiece for all to look at.
Wrapped boxes.
This plays to the theme of kids liking boxes and wrapping paper more than they like what comes in them. This is usually especially true for the younger kids, like the first birthday kids. So, wrap some empty boxes in brightly colored paper, and use plenty of ribbons and bows to make them look really enticing. You may want to include a couple pictures of baby along with the wrapped boxes to create an over all centerpiece that is well themed, and still interesting to look at.
Your baby one turns one once, and it is a big birthday, as you stop counting by month, and start counting by year, so make your centerpieces great.
