Birthday Party Game Ideas

Birthday party games can be very challenging to organize and even more difficult to execute in the heat of the moment. However, with some creativity and some time spent on organizing the party and games, you can make it a great success for everyone involved, including yourself.

Making a birthday party with a theme can be one of the best ways to implement a fun and exciting array of games. Different themes can lend themselves more readily to different audiences. There are many different ways of making sure the games match the theme of the party and some of the best games will simply be adaptations on classic games that many people are already familiar with. All it takes is some creativity and some careful planning on your part and you will have a great party that many people will remember for a long time to come.

Charades is a great game and can be an excellent way to introduce the theme of the party other than the decorations that are up. This can be really fun with an older group of children who know more about acting and making themselves fit into a theme. The theme can be along the lines of something your child really likes or something that most children of their age or gender are familiar with. This will make the party exciting and engaging for the children from the very beginning. Have the kids act out characters or animals from their favorite TV shows or movies while the other kids guess what they are acting out.

Fill a jar with candy and count the pieces as you put them into the jar. The candy can be your child’s favorites or ones that fit with the theme. The game involves the guests of the party guessing the total number of pieces of candy in the jar and then awarding the jar to the person who gets the closest to the actual number in the jar.

Having a themed dinner is also a fun way to involve everyone in the party. This can be especially fun if there is menu and the children have to guess what they are really going to be eating. Code names for the foods that go along with the foods make dinner a great way to eat something yummy while involving everyone. You can even make a game of dinner and have them describe what they would like to have for dinner. All of the kids sit in a circle and then say what they would like to have most at their birthday dinner. The next person in line has to say what they want and then also what the people before them said. This process continues until someone gets the answers wrong or can’t remember what came before.

Pin the tail on the donkey has been a great birthday game for years and will always be a classic birthday party game. The modern version doesn’t mandate the use of a donkey or the tail. You can make any number of variations and pin the something on something can be a very entertaining game for everyone involved. This is another great way to keep with a theme and make sure that everything in the party fits with the other parts. If the child is into a particular TV show or game, then you can make the figure that will be pinned on, a key character or figure from this game. Making sure that your party goes well can be a difficult process, but be creative and thorough in your planning and flexible with your implementation of games and timelines and the party will go well for you and your child and friends will have a great time.
