Birthday parties are a great time for your kids and their friends to express themselves and there are many ways that birthday parties can be made better. Games play a very important role in making a birthday party fun and interesting for children and here are some games that work well for birthday parties for boys.
Classic playground games are great for birthday parties and Red Rover is a great game for an outside party. First, divide the group into two teams and go to opposite sides of the play area. Face each other and link elbows. Then one team recites the line “Red Rover, Red Rover, send (name of child) right over. The child that is chosen is then to run to the other side and tries to break the links between the other team. If he is successful, he takes a member from the other team back to join his line. If unsuccessful, he will be required to join the opposite team and leave his own.
A treasure hunt can also be a great birthday party game and can also be educational. Depending on the age of the children, make the items more difficult to find or make the clues for the items more of a guessing game or riddle so that they have to figure out what the items to find are. You can use lots of different things in the treasure hunt and can even make the party favors the items that will be searched for. When the kids find the coins or party favors, they can then take them home after the party is over.
Balloons are an important part of any birthday party. However, the best thing about balloons is that they are multi-functional; first, you can disguise them as just decorations and then use them for the game later on. One great game that you can play with balloons is a balloon popping relay. First, take several balloons and put small prizes in them. Party favors like whistles, candy and other small toys work great (but make sure you don’t use anything sharp that could pop the balloon). Blow up the balloons and tie them off and the toys will be inside them. Divide the party into two teams and have everyone start behind a designated point. Place the balloons at the other end of the room and have the children race to the other side and pick up a balloon. Then they do anything they can to pop the balloon and then get the item inside and run back to the other end of the room to have the next team member do the same thing. This game is better with smaller children who may have a little more trouble popping the balloon than older ones. Every child takes a turn to pop a balloon and get a prize and the team who finishes first, wins. But everyone that plays the game is also a winner, because there is automatically a prize given to every participant.
Many variations on other games can be made to make them more suitable for just boys or even a specific age group. Planning a fun and exciting birthday party requires some creativity and can still be fun even on a small budget. Kids aren’t always looking for a super amazing birthday party with the most expensive gifts and favors, but really just want to have a good time with their friends. Taking time to plan the party carefully will make it run better and make everyone, including your birthday boy, have a great time.
