Fall can be a great time to plan a birthday party for your child. The seasonal decorations and holidays seem to lend themselves to birthday fun. So if you are planning on a fall birthday party for your child here are some fall themed birthday party ideas-
Pumpkin Roll Game-This is a fun birthday party game for kids of all ages! Set up an obstacle course (this game is best played outside) that the party guests will have to maneuver a pumpkin around by rolling it. You can set up obstacles that the kids will have to go over, around, through and under. Be sure to gather up several intact pumpkins since you may need a few extra incase of “breakage”.
Corn Roll Game-This is a birthday game that can be played inside or outside, individually or in teams depending on how many party guests you have. Party guests roll ears of dried Indian corn along the floor with their nose from the starting line and then back again. They can not use anything but their noses to push or roll the corn.
Pumpkin Bowling Game-This is just plain bowling with a fun and messy twist! Boys especially love this birthday game! Set up pins (anything that can be knocked over-empty 2 liter bottles work really good) and about 30 plus feet away have the kid’s roll, throw or toss the pumpkins at the pins to knock them down. Tip: After the mess you can have the kids pick up the seeds (and pumpkin pieces) and use them in a pumpkin seed spitting contest.
Pin the tail Game-This is the traditional birthday party game, but instead pin the tail feather on the turkey!
Gobble Tag Game-This is played like freeze tag. The party guest who is “it” tries to tag the other guests. When tagged the child must then hold still and “gobble” until another child comes and touches them and then they are unfrozen. When “it” gets everyone tagged and frozen they get to pick the next “it”.
Apple catch Game-Tie apples to strings and then tie the strings hanging down from a tree or clothesline. Be sure to tie them just about 3 feet off the ground (adjust this for the age of the children). Party guests must try and take a bite of the apple without touching it with their hands.
Capture the Turkey Game-This game is played like capture the flag, but instead of flags the birthday guests hide and try and capture a toy turkey.
Pumpkin Pie Game-This game is played like hide and go seek. One person counts and the other party guests go hide. The twist is that the hiding party guests must look for each other without getting caught by the “seeker”. When two hiders find each other they must then hide together. The play continues until all the hiders are hiding together. If all the party guests can hide together without getting caught then the seeker is “it” again.
Indian Bead Shirts-You can make fun Indian bead shirts for a birthday party activity. Buy inexpensive t- shirts (big or small). Cut the sleeves and bottom of the shirt into fringe that is about 2 – 3 inches long. The party guests can string large plastic multi colored beads on each piece of fringe and then knot the shirt at the end so the beads do not fall off.
Pumpkin Decorating-You can do this instead of carving pumpkins. Have a decorating contest and decorate them with yarn for hair and draw on features with colorful permanent markers. Add hats, sunglasses and earrings for fashionable pumpkins!
